Cheap Alternative

Hey everyone!

The other day I noticed I was running low on blotting papers (I know I have sensitive skin, but my tzone is terribly shiny by mid day). I didn’t want to waste $3 on maybe 50 blotting sheets? Yeah, not worth it. What I ended up doing was seperating 2ply tissue and blotting my face with that, which did work, but unlike blotting papers, I couldn’t see the oil that was absorbed. My friend suggested a different way: tissue paper (as in gift wrap stuff). So i had some leftover in the basement from Christmas, and I cut a little bit and tried it. Let me tell you, it really works! The texture is just different from the blotting papers, but it works the same way! You can see where the oil has been absorbed. In addition, it’s super cheap as well. $1 for maybe a years supply, rather than $3 for maybe 2 months supply? I’m sold! Just make sure to buy WHITE tissue paper so it won’t leave any color.

All you gotta do is find a container or something to hold the blotting papers, cut them to the appropriate size, and then carry it on the go! Super cheap, and it works in the same way!

Hope someone finds this useful!

Product Review #16 - Drugstore Curling Iron

Hey everyone!

I haven’t posted a product review (or in this case a hair tool review) in a while.

I got a curling iron not too long ago and since it was my first time, I was pretty naive.

Never get the Revlon  1 1/2” curling iron. It sucks. My hair kept falling out from the clip, it smelled terrible, and there was no metal stand (although the latter isn’t super important, it depends on what you prefer). Plus whenever you curled a strang of hair, you could easily accidently change the temperature setting. And it didn’t even work nicely.

I returned it and got a Conair Instant Heat 1 1/4” curling iron. Compared to the Revlon one, this one is simply amazing. My hair doesn’t fall out, I can feel the clasp is tighter. There’s a metal stand so it stays put. I can have the heat setting on 20 and it’ll curl my hair fast, unlike when i had the heat setting on 40 on the revlon one and it still wouldn’t curl nicely. The curls come out nicer than the revlon one as well.

Overall, it’s just a better curling iron.

Never buy the revlon one guys. I thought i could deal with it and try it out for a bit longer, noooooo. I couldn’t handle it anymore. It just sucked too much.

I’ll post pictures of my curled hair with the conair one soon.

I think it was under $20 at Walmart

Beauty Tip:
Dry hands? Check this out:
Olive oil hand treatment; Take about 2 spoons of olive oil in a bowl and heat it gently in the microwave until it is warm but not hot! (about 20 should do it) Add in 2-3 spoons of sugar and mix the oil and sugar together. You should be left with a yellow paste. Fill a basin with hot water, (but not scalding hot!) start to work the mixture into your hands and cover your hands with food bags. Gently place your hands in the baison of water and leave there for about 5 minutes. Take your hands out of the bags and gentaly rinse in warm water and pat dry.
You will instantly feel the difference and it will leave you with super soft hands!!

Product Review #15 - EOS Lipbalm (Summer Fruit)

I was super excited to see this in my local Chapters, after hearing so much about it (and seeing bubzbeauty and michelle phan use it). Of course, like everyone else, the first thing that brought it to my attention was the cute little shape. (Note: I don’t live in America, so it wasn’t $3 as most people on youtube have been talking about, how they got it at CVS/Walgreens/Target) I bought mine for $6, which to me, is a little on the expensive side considering Burts Bee’s and Softlips are cheaper, for more product. However, since it was 100% natural, and 95% organic, I took that into consideration.

It’s relaly fun just unscrewing the cap and using the product. It is very smooth, and it smells amazing. (to some people it may be too sweet/fruity, but I’m not a fan of the mint feeling on my lips, and I didnt like the Honeysuckle Honeydew).

To be honest, Im still not quite used to using it because I can have really chapped lips in the winter (depending on the weather, and what I eat). I’ve also always been using Vaseline since I was a child (goes to show how bad my skin is), and since it’s thick, it’s definitly taking me a while to get used to the thinner lipbalm. Although I have to admit, it’s really good. I left it on overnight (purely the EOS, no vaseline on top of it) and I woke up soft lips, and my lips were still moisturized. What i’ve been doing lately is putting some vaseline on TOP of my EOS coat, just to get my lips to adapt lol.

My lips aren’t so chapped though, that I have to admit, which is awesome. It seems like it’d take a while before I flatten the semicircle, so I’m curious to see if there’s actually any product under it, or if it’s just the Marketing Team at EOS targetting the females.

Overall, I have to say it’s pretty good, but for the price.. that’s a little downer (for me at least, like I mentioned, people get theirs for $3)
